Q: How were these particular songs chosen?

A: The Rock 'n' Roll Institute in Washington, DC was brought in to study the matter.
From their in-depth analysis, a list of recommendations was drawn up which was then
submitted to a blue-ribbon panel of experts, who ultimately drafted a final proposal...
